The start of this Race was delayed due to the withdrawal of CAPE LEOPARD and FUJIN. CAPE LEOPARD was withdrawn by the Veterinary Surgeon, injured in the stalls. FUJIN reared in the stalls and was subsequently, withdrawn by the Veterinary Surgeon, not striding out in front. Trainer Laing was advised to re-school this gelding prior to its next engagement. In deciding what action to take against this horse, the Starter considered this gelding's non-history at the starting stalls. PALO ALTO was nervous in the stalls. STRONG 'N BRAVE was stubborn loading. SHEPHERD'S SKY jumped inwards. OASIS QUEEN was nervous in the stalls and slow into stride. Prior to the commencement of the race meeting, Trainer Strydom approached the Board requesting permission for the non-declaration of a Rider on the horse OMAHA TRIBE. In deciding whether to grant the permission sought, the Board considered a number of factors including, the interests of the betting public and the stakeholders as well as the fact that there were only a limited number of Riders available for today's race meeting. Accordingly, the Board was of the view that, it would be in the best interests of racing to grant Steward's permission to Trainer Strydom and allow OMAHA TRIBE to be declared without a Rider. As can be gleaned from the race card changes below, Jockey Bogaleboile became available thus allowing OMAHA TRIBE to run in this race. Trainer Smith presented GOLDEN SHAMROCK in the parade ring whilst incorrectly equipped. The blinkers for this horse as declared in the race card were fitted behind the starting stalls. In deciding what action to take against Trainer Smith, the Board considered his recent clean record in relation to the Rule. Shortly after the start SEATTLE SOUND was awkwardly placed between JUDD'S ROCKET which jumped out and SHEPHERD'S SKY which jumped in. Following the running of the 6th race SHEPHERD'S SKY broke down in the pull up area. As a consequence, Jockey Cheyne was unable to remove his saddle on this horse in order to weigh back in. After the running of this race Jockey Minnie was stood down by the Course Medical Officer after injuring himself in the starting stalls. SEATTLE SOUND was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. GOLDEN SHAMROCK raced equipped with cheek pieces. Vet: ROSSLYN CHAPEL - not striding out in front. SHEPHERD'S SKY broke down - injured left front fetlock. THE GOON SHOW - not striding out right fore. CAPE LEOPARD - scratched at the start, stall injury. FUJIN - scratched at the start, not striding out in front. SUCHA CHARMER - not striding out in front. Scratched: BELL TOWER - swollen near fore joint. CAPE LEOPARD - injured in stalls. FUJIN - not striding out in front.
