The front gates on the inside bank of starting stalls opened just prior to loading. The front gates were re-closed and the starting stalls were reset. SILVER PLAINS jumped outwards sharply and struck the side of the stalls, bumped THE PERFECT WAVE, which bumped and squeezed out RETRO EFFECT, which made contact with the hind quarters of NORFOLK PINE. JJ THE WOLF and WITWATERSTAND were slow into stride. THE BLUES and RETRO EFFECT were restless in the stalls. The start of this Race was reviewed and it was established that SILVER PLAINS had jumped outwards sharply and made contact with the front gate of the starting stalls, which turned him outwards. This resulted in RETRO EFFECT and THE PERFECT WAVE being squeezed out losing position, and NORFOLK PINE was turned inwards and unbalanced when his hindquarters were bumped by THE PERFECT WAVE. The Board was satisfied that Jockey Marcus, rider of SILVER PLAINS, could not be held responsible for this incident. HYPNOTIST over raced in the early stages. Jockey Khathi, rider of SILVER CONCORD,E reported that he felt something amiss with this gelding in running. RETRO EFFECT was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Vet: SILVER CONCORDE - returned suffering from an epistaxis due to an exercise induced pulmonary haemorrhage and was suspended for a period of 60 days. Scratched: MARCUS ADAMUS - colic.
