NANNA ANNA was stubborn loading, reared in the stalls, unseating the rider. STEFFI'S GRAFT jumped awkwardly outwards losing one length and thereafter was slow into stride. When attempting to activate the start the starting stalls refused to open, on the first occasion, which resulted in a number of horses striking the front gates. On the second attempt the gates opened on terms. In view of the Starter's report regarding the starting stalls the start was reviewed by the Stipendiary Stewards. The Board was satisfied despite this technical malfunction that the start had been affected in terms of Rules. In view of the report from the Starter regarding NANNA ANNA, Trainer Reeves was advised that this filly's starting stall certificate was withdrawn and she was suspended for a period of 7 days and until such time as she proves tractable. NANNA ANNA may not be presented for re-passing during this period. Jockey Khathi, rider of MARGRETHE, reported that this filly had a mouth injury. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine the filly on her return to the unsaddling enclosure and submit a report. NANNA ANNA pulled hard in the early stages and was difficult to restrain. INDI ANNA was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Vet: NANNA ANNA - returned making an abnormal respiratory noise, made a poor recovery and bleeding from the mouth. MARGRETHE - returned bleeding from the mouth. Scratched: PROCRASTINATION - elevated temperature. SACRED STORY - short on the left hind.
