BARISTA and DUOLOGY were slow into stride. GAELEBALE was slow losing many lengths. The Starting Stall Certificate for this gelding was withdrawn. In view of the Starter's report with regard to GAELEBALE, this gelding was suspended for a period of 7 days and until such time as it proves tractable jumping on terms with a companion on a race day. GAELEBALE may not be presented for repassing during this period. At approximately the 1200m, BARISTA had to steady to avoid running onto the heels of DUOLOGY. As a consequence of this, BARISTA made contact with the inside running rail. Jockey Habib reported that BARISTA made an abnormal respiratory noise in running. Apprentice Matsunyane reported that EAGLE RULER made an abnormal respiratory noise and he did not persevere with his riding from the 400m. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this gelding. Jockey Steyn reported that he felt something amiss with GAELEBALE in running and he did not persevere with his riding from the 350m. DUOLOGY and GIMME THE FIRE were selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Vet: BARISTA - examined post-race, nothing obvious detected. EAGLE RULER - abnormal respiratory noise. GAELEBALE - coughing.
