THE STARTER REPORTED: a) Fair start. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED : a) PETRA (G Wright) was hanging out in the early part of the straight and thereafter shifted in away from the crop from the 150m. b) Jockey S Moodley reported that OOH LA LA (6.25 lengths) took no interest in the running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine. c) Jockey A Arries signed an admission of guilt for a contravention of Rule 58.10.2, read in conjunction with Guideline M, in that he struck the horse JACKSON WELLS more than 12 times in the entire race. In deciding what action to take against Jockey A Arries the Board considered the number of times (14) Jockey A Arries struck the horse JACKSON WELLS, the distance over which and manner in which, Jockey A Arries used his crop and his record (3) in relation to this Rule. Accordingly, a penalty of R1500 was imposed. d) Jockey G Wright signed an admission of guilt for a contravention of Rule 58.10.2, read in conjunction with Guideline M, in that he struck the horse PETRA more than 12 times in the entire race. In deciding what action to take against Jockey G Wright the Board considered the number of times (16) Jockey G Wright struck the horse PETRA, the distance over which and manner in which, Jockey G Wright used his crop, the fact that he won the race and his record (1) in relation to this Rule. Accordingly, a penalty of R1500 was imposed. e) Jockey A Marcus signed an admission of guilt for a contravention of Rule 58.10.2, read in conjunction with Guideline M, in that he struck the horse LOVE BOMB more than 12 times in the entire race. In deciding what action to take against Jockey A Marcus the Board considered the number of times (14) Jockey A Marcus struck the horse LOVE BOMB, the distance over which and manner in which, Jockey A Marcus used his crop and his record (3) in relation to this Rule. Accordingly, a penalty of R1500 was imposed. f) PETRA (G Wright), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis.
