THE STARTER REPORTED:
a) FEVER (*L J Ferraris) was fractious in the stalls.
b) ROCKY COAST (*G Pieterse) jumped awkwardly with its head up and lost 5 lengths.
THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED :
a) In view of the Starter's report with regard to ROCKY COAST (*G Pieterse), this gelding's starting stall certificate is withdrawn and it is suspended in terms of Rule 61.6.10 for a period of 7 days and until such time as it proves tractable with a companion. Suspension dates: 08.12.2020 to the 14.12.20. ROCKY COAST may not be presented for re-passing during this period. Trainer F Robinson will be advised. (SN)
b) Trainer W Whitehead (DOM SEGUIDOR) will be advised that her runner failed to adequately parade and that should this gelding behave similarly in future, it may be suspended.
c) At the 1600m, SECRET DYNASTY (*J Gates) was cramped on the inside of SEA SPONGE (*C Dicken) which rolled in.
d) SEA SPONGE (*C Dicken) cast the right fore shoe at the 1400m.
e) IBUTHO (*K Strydom) was hanging in, in the concluding stages.
f) Apprentice J Gates reported that SECRET DYNASTY (3.20 lengths) did not stride out freely in the running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine.
g) In view of the performance of ROCKY COAST (*G Pieterse) (38.90 lengths) the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine.
h) Trainer L W Goosen signed an admission of guilt for a contravention of Rule 11.2.8, in that he presented GRAVITATION in the parade ring incorrectly equipped for this race. Accordingly, a penalty of a warning was imposed.
i) Apprentice L Ferraris signed an admission of guilt for a contravention of Rule 58.10.2, read in conjunction with Guideline M, in that he struck the horse FEVER more than 12 times in the entire race. In deciding what action to take against Apprentice L Ferraris the Board considered the number of times (13) Apprentice L Ferraris struck the horse FEVER, the distance over which and manner in which, Apprentice L Ferraris used his crop and his record (0) in relation to this Rule. Accordingly, a penalty of R750 was imposed.
j) Apprentice K Strydom (IBUTHO) has ridden his 20th winner and will now claim 2.5kg apprentice allowance from the conclusion of today's race meeting.
k) IBUTHO (*K Strydom), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer A Wright advised (ML).
