Steady rain fell prior to and during the running of the 4th Race. There was a delay to the start of the 4th Race as a result of SHE'S A FORTRESS breaking through the stalls, dislodging Jockey Fourie and bolting the course and was difficult to get in hand. AHOY ME MATEY and KEEP IT REAL both lost 1 length. SHE'S A FORTRESS broke through the stalls and bolted. Scratched. Trainer Bestel was advised to re-school this mare. IN THE STARS was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. CHERRY POP was hanging in throughout, shifted in near the 200-meter mark inconveniencing ROCKING RUBY. Jockey Lerena the rider of OURO accidentally dropped his crop near the 150-metre mark. Jockey Cheyne the rider of ROCKING RUBY reported that he felt something amiss with this filly in the latter stages. Jockeys Zackey the rider of LUNAR RUSH, Wright the rider of AHOY ME MATEY and Hewitson the rider of ZADORA reported their respective mounts did not act in the prevailing soft underfoot track conditions. In view of the performances of LUNAR RUSH and AHOY ME MATEY, the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine these mares. Due to the heavy rain coupled with the delay of SHE'S A FORTRESS bolting, all riders weighed back in, on average, 1kg overweight as a result of the steady rain. I'M FREE raced fitted with ear-muffs. Vet: LUNAR RUSH and ROCKING RUBY - nothing obvious detected. AHOY ME MATEY - not striding out right hind. Scratched: SHE'S A FORTRESS - broke through the stalls, dislodged jockey and bolted.
