Due to the large volume of rain which had fallen during the course of the week, a track inspection was conducted by the Stipendiary Stewards, Track Manager, Operator Representative and Trainer Representative on Thursday, 25 April 2019. It was the unanimous opinion of this panel that there was no realistic prospect of the Turf Track being suitable for racing on Friday, 26 April 2019. Consequently, a decision was taken to move the race meeting to the Poly Track. Any Trainers who deemed their horses unsuitable to race on the Poly Track on 25 April 2019, were afforded the opportunity to scratch their runners due the change of surface. Additionally, in accordance with the change of surface, the distance of race 3 was amended to 1900m and races 4, 5 and 8 were amended to 1300m, respectively. GRAVITATION was unruly in the stalls. BRIGADOON ELY was slow away and lost 1 length. GRAVITATION raced clear of the field whilst overracing in the early and middle stages. Notwithstanding these early exertions, this gelding kept rolling long enough to win. In view of the performance of GRAVITATION, the Board reviewed the rides of each of the Riders in behind GRAVITATION and was satisfied with the efforts of each of the runners. In this regard, the Board noted that several of the runners, including the fancied runners, FINLEY HILL and BRIGADOON ELY, were being asked to close the gap on GRAVITATION from as early as the 600m however, neither were able to produce a powerful enough finishing burst to win the race.
