The start of this race was delayed due to PASHTOOSH pulling her near fore shoe and HALLO ROSIE pulling her off fore shoe, which had to be re-fitted at the start. PASHTOOSH had her near fore shoe re-fitted at the start and was slow into stride. HALLO ROSIE had her off fore shoe re-fitted at the start. COASTAL STORM, MEDITERANEAN MAGIC and PLACE DU MARCHE were slow into stride. Jockey Cheyne failed to ensure that he did not cause interference to HALLO ROSIE when switching out to continue his run at the 300m. In deciding what action to take against Jockey Cheyne, the Board reviewed Mr Cheyne's record. In this regard, the Board noted that Jockey Cheyne's last offence was on 25 July 2017. The Board further considered to a lesser extent, that at the time of the incident, PLACE DU MARCHE had gained a significant amount of momentum whilst placed on the heels of COASTAL STORM which rendered PLACE DU MARCHE's outward movement sharper that may have been anticipated. After taking all of these factors into consideration a penalty of a written warning was imposed. At the 300m, MEDITERANEAN MAGIC had to switch out when awkwardly placed on the heels of POLLYMANIA which commenced to give ground to the field. Jockey Byleveld appeared before the Board and was afforded an opportunity to explain the poor performance of DIAMOND HEIST. In this regard he explained to the Board that, unlike DIAMOND HEIST's first run where she ran on the Turf in juvenile company, this filly was unable to lead today against older horses which in his opinion are often slightly quicker. He further explained that, once in behind runners, this filly had dropped the bit and never raised a gallop. In view of this report Trainer Bremner has been advised to report back on the condition of this filly upon return to the stables. GREY MISSILE and PLACE DU MARCHE were selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. LAW AND ORDER raced equipped with a tongue tie. Vet: COASTAL STORM - abnormal respiratory noise. PASHTOOSH - cast left fore shoe. MEDITERANEAN MAGIC - coughed post-race. POLLYMANIA and LAW AND ORDER - post-race distress syndrome.
