THE STARTER REPORTED: a) SILVER MARIA (K de Melo) jumped sharply inwards, making contact with FYNBOS (S Cele) which in turn made contact with RUBY AND ROSES (A Andrews) which bumped EARTH STAR (K Sakayi). This resulted in FYNBOS (S Cele), RUBY AND ROSES (A Andrews) and EARTH STAR (K Sakayi) becoming unbalanced for a number of strides. b) ROSALIE RUNS (G van Niekerk) jumped slow, losing two lengths. c) EARTH STAR ( K Sakayi) was slow into stride. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) The start of this race was delayed due to BOLD DIVA (*J Solomons) having to be resaddled at the start. b) FYNBOS (S Cele) had difficulty securing clear running between the 300m and the100m. c) In view of the performance of EARTH STAR (K Sakayi), the veterinary surgeon was requested to examine this filly. d) Jockey S Cele was charged with a contravention of Rule 55.4 in that he failed to weigh out at the correct carded weight on EARTH STAR, or at the higher weight confirmed in his engagement with the Trainer. Jockey Cele signed an Admission of Guilt and was given the penalty of a warning. e) PINK TOURMALINE, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Assistant Trainer B Donnelly, acting on behalf of Trainer B Crawford was advised.
