Jockey Thackeray appeared before the Board and was questioned regarding his riding tactics on FREE AGENT. In this regard, his attention was drawn to the fact that in a five-horse field, he raced three deeps throughout. Jockey Thackeray explained to the Board that, he had not intended to race three deep and had anticipated that Jockey Danielson, rider of MANGROVE would have switched out off the heels of OMAHA TRIBE and thereafter raced to the front. However, Jockey Danielson elected to hold his position one off the rail despite room being available for MANGROVE to slot in one back on the inside running rail. This resulted in FREE AGENT being caught three deeps in the race. The Board noted and accepted Jockey Thackeray's explanation. MANGROVE, GO DIRECT and EVOLVER were selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. GO DIRECT raced equipped with a tongue tie. Scratched: FIRE IN THE BELLY and WILD BRIER - lame off fore.
