AFRICA RISING was stubborn loading. This caused a delay to the start of this race. AFRICA RISING was stubborn loading. Assistant Trainer Mansour was advised to re-school this gelding prior to its next engagement. SOCIAL ORDER was slow, losing 1 length. In view of the performance form DANZA, the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this gelding. When afforded the opportunity to expand on his ride on DANZA, Jockey Danielson explained to the Board that DANZA had not felt his usual self in running and had needed constant encouragement with the hands to keep up with the field. He further explained that when DANZA was asked to quicken from the 400m he had failed to do so and had stayed on one paced to the end of the race. Trainer Laird was requested to report back on the condition of DANZA on return to the stables. In the concluding stages SOCIAL ORDER was awkwardly placed between VALBONNE and CLEVER GUY, which rolled in. ANGEL'S POWER was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Vet: DANZA - examined post-race, nothing obvious detected. Scratched: SPLENDID GARDEN - abnormal blood count.
