RANGO and TRIAL RUN were slow into stride. BAYBOU BOSS was nervous in the stalls and thereafter slow into stride. BLACK KNIGHT had his tongue tie refitted at the start, was stubborn loading and reared at the off. MASTEROFTHEPARTY, DUET and ANDREA were nervous in the stalls. BOLD LINNGARI was stubborn loading, nervous in the stalls, slow away and lost 2 lengths. SNOROK was stubborn loading. PARTERRE jumped awkwardly. Jockeys Lerena, rider of DUET and Fayd'Herbe, rider of PARTERRE appeared before the Board, were shown the patrol films of the race and reminded of their obligation to ride their mounts out with sufficient vigour and determination to the end of the race. Additionally, Jockey Fayd'Herbe appeared before the Board and was afforded the opportunity to place on record any factors which may have led to the unplaced run of PARTERRE. In this regard, he explained to the Board that, despite PARTERRE jumping awkwardly, he had settled and travelled reasonably well in the first 300m of the race however, approaching the middle stages of the race, PARTERRE had commenced to race greenly and dropped the bit. Thereafter, despite his urgings, this colt never fully let down with his run and ultimately only stayed on to run 5th. Jockey Fayd'Herbe further expressed the view that, PARTERRE would improve with racing and as he matured. The Board noted the explanation of Jockey Fayd'Herbe which was corroborated by the patrol films. In view of the performance of PARTERRE, the Course Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine. At the 250m, TRIAL RUN was carried in by PARTERRE which rolled in. Jockey Khathi struck the horse BOLD LINNGARI unnecessarily when it was out of contention for a place and more than 12 times in the race. SNOROK was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. BLACK KNIGHT raced equipped with a tongue tie. Vet: BLACK KNIGHT - abnormal respiratory noise and replaced tongue tie at the start. PARTERRE - nothing obvious detected.
