No sectional timing units were carried by the runners in this race due to technical issues with the new sectional timing devices. GREAT JOE lost 1 length. GLOBAL EXPOSURE jumped inwards leaving the stalls. HIDDEN BLUE jumped outwards leaving the stalls. Work rider Mosia reported that BOLD MATADOR changed strides continually in running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this colt. Work rider Kamoli hit the horse BIRTHDAY BOY more than 12 times in the entire race. He was suspended from riding in two work riders' races. The Board, when assessing the penalty, took into consideration the excessive number of strikes. Work rider Kamoli failed to ride the horse BIRTHDAY BOY out to the end of the race. He was suspended from riding in one work riders' race. When assessing this penalty, the Board was satisfied that Work rider Kamoli had not prejudiced his chances of obtaining 4th place, however, he had failed to ride BIRTHDAY BOY out to the end of the race to the satisfaction of the Stewards. Work rider Mongqawa hit the horse SAINT MICHAEL more than 12 times in the entire race. He was suspended from riding in one work riders' race. LIGHTHEARTED was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. HIGHWAY EXPRESS raced equipped with a tongue tie. Vet: BOLD MATADOR - not striding out left front. BIRTHDAY BOY - scalped left hind.
