No sectional timing units were carried by the runners in this race due to technical issues with the new sectional timing devices. ARABIAN SUNRISE lost 2 lengths and thereafter was slow into stride. Shortly after the start STRAWBERRY MIST was bumped inwards by SHEZAHOTTI. Thereafter, at approximately the 1400m, STRAWBERRY MIST clipped the heels of MERENGUE. AWAIT THE SUNSET shifted out away from the crop in the concluding stages. Work rider Dadamasi failed to ride the horse IN THE SKY out to the end of the race, thereby prejudicing his chances of obtaining 5th place. He was suspended from riding in two work riders' races. Trainer Matchett was requested to report back on the condition of SHEZAHOTTI on return to the stables. WORDYNESS was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. STRAWBERRY MIST raced in Bright Yellow, Black Band of Diamonds, Red Sleeves, Black Armbands, Black and Red Checked Diamond Cap. AEGEAN raced equipped with a tongue tie. Scratched: PEGGY CARTER - overreach left front.
