RAINCHECK, ROYAL WINDSOR, EVENING SONG and SIXTEEN BARS were slow into stride. Approaching the 700m COMMANDING QUEEN had to ease briefly off the heels of DELIVERANCE, which shifted in. Shortly thereafter approaching the 600m MON CHERIE became awkwardly placed on the heels of DELIVERANCE and was forced to ease for a number of strides, RAINCHECK, which was following was forced to ease off the heels of MON CHERIE. Jockey Khathi failed to maintain a reasonable pace at the head of the field, which resulted in interference to runners following. Jockey Khathi was suspended from riding in races for a period of 7 days. ROYAL WINDSOR and SIXTEEN BARS raced wide on the latter part of the bend and into the straight. Approaching the 150m ROYAL WINDSOR, which raced green was shifted out slightly in order to obtain a clear run, bumped COMMANDING QUEEN, which became unbalanced and momentarily tightened for galloping room between EVENING SONG and ROYAL WINDSOR. Jockey Ashby appeared before the Board and was advised to take stronger measures to keep his mount on a straight course in future. ROLL IN THE HAY and MON CHERIE were selected for the taking of specimens for analysis.
