FORTUNE FLIES was slow losing one length and thereafter was slow into stride. Leaving the 200m until shortly after the 100m FORTUNE FLIES became awkwardly placed on the heels of INDI ANNA, when attempting to secure a run on the outside of INDI ANNA, which was hanging out and shifted out gradually. A Member of the Stipendiary Board called for a race review, which was followed by Jockey Mxothwa, rider of FORTUNE FLIES, declared 4th placed horse, lodging an Objection against INDI ANNA being declared the winner, on the grounds of interference in the latter stages. After considering the evidence heard, reviewing the patrol films and taking into account the distance of 0.75 lengths between the horses at the finish, the Board was of the opinion that but for this incident FORTUNE FLIES would not have finished in front INDI ANNA and therefore overruled the Objection and allowed the Judges' result to stand. The deposit was refunded. Jockey Orffer appeared before the Board and he was advised that he needs to take stronger measures to keep his mount on a straight course in future. At about the 150m GLAMOUROUS LIFE was forced to ease when tightened for galloping room between FORTUNE FLIES, which shifted out and PEARL TIARA. Jockey Khathi, rider of HEMERO reported that this filly did not stride out freely in running. INDI ANNA was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Vet: HEMERO - examined post-race and no obvious abnormalities were detected.
