REGAL RUBY was slow into stride. FOURS A CROWD was slow losing two lengths and thereafter was slow into stride. Trainer Stewart declared Lerena to ride the horse IT IS WHAT IT IS (reserve runner) without having obtained his prior consent, which resulted in a change of rider. Approaching the 200m ALSFLAMINGBEAUTY clipped the heels of REBELS SPIRIT and stumbled badly when REBELS SPIRIT was carried in slightly by IT IS WHAT IT IS which shifted in away from the crop and was straightened. Jockey Cheyne appeared before the Board and evidence was heard. In view of evidence heard and the reviewing of the patrol films, no further action was taken. Approaching the 100m IT IS WHAT IT IS shifted outwards and brushed EMPIRE RISING, which resulted in NANNA ANNA having to shift outwards away from EMPIRE RISING. REGAL RUBY was momentarily held up at the 200m. ALSFALMINGBEAUTY was not persevered with after she stumbled at the 200m. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine the filly on her return to the unsaddling enclosure and submit a report. HILDEGARDE was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Vet: ALSFLAMINGBEAUTY - returned not striding out in front (both fore). Scratched: LUMIERE - pharyngitis. FLUTTERING - coughing.
