HIGH SEAS BEAUTY (AUS), ROCKIN RUSSIAN and BULLSADE were slow into stride. Jockey Danielson, rider of CASHEL PRINCE, and Jockey Hewitson, rider of ROCKIN RUSSIAN, reported that their respective mounts did not stride out freely in running. At approximately the 300m, BULLSADE had to steady when awkwardly placed between EMILY JAY, which rolled out, and ANNEKA, which rolled in. At approximately the 150m, FOLK DANCE had to steady off the heels of EMILY JAY, which shifted in sharply away from the crop and was immediately straightened. In the concluding stages, ROUGE ALLURE had to steady when awkwardly placed between PENNY ROYAL, which shifted out away from the crop and BEING FABULOUS (AUS), which was carried in by CARIOCA, which shifted in away from the crop. As a consequence of this, ROCKIN RUSSIAN which was racing on the heels of these runners was baulked for a clear run. Jockey Khumalo appeared before the Board and was questioned with regard to his riding of CARIOCA in the concluding stages. He explained to the Board that this filly had hit the front early on in the straight and when she had tired in the concluding stages, she had shifted in sharply away from the crop. He was aware of the proximity of a number of runners and riders to his inside and had straightened her with his hands to avoid causing interference to these runners. As a consequence of this, he was unable to fully ride her out to the end of the race. BEING FABULOUS (AUS), BULLSADE and PENNY ROYAL were selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Vet: CASHEL PRINCE - not striding out left hind. ROCKIN RUSSIAN - lame left front (treated).
