As the start was affected CHOUETTE reared and dislodged Work rider Mabaya. Trainer Alexander was advised to re-school this filly prior to its next engagement. A race review was called into the start of this race with regard to CHOUETTE in stall gate number 1. It was established that this filly had reared shortly before the start was affected. She had turned her head sideways towards the handler allocated to her, who subsequently failed to release her timeously. The Board declared CHOUETTE to be a non-runner. At approximately the 150m THERECANBEONLYONE had to switch out off the heels of GOLDEN SPIRAL to continue its run. GOLDEN SPIRAL was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis.
