DOUBLE GRATITUDE was slow into stride. SUPER SILVANO and WILL SCARLET made contact after the start. The start of this Race was rescheduled as the electricity power at Durbanville went off at 12h05 and the generator was not operational until 12h30. Jockey Byleveld, rider of JOIE DE VIVRE, reported that this gelding raced with its tongue over the bit and was hanging out throughout. GREY FERRARI was hanging out in the straight. At the 200m WILL SCARLET had to steady when awkwardly placed close to the heels SUPER SILVANO, which shifted in slightly. Jockey Orffer appeared before the Board and was advised to take stronger measures to keep his mount on a straight course. In the concluding stages, SUPER SILVANO switched to the inside of JEAN'S MAN, which raced green, was hanging out and shifted out. Apprentice Burke failed to ride the horse WINTER OASIS out to the end of the race and as a result failed to retain 5th place. JEAN'S MAN and SUPER SILVANO were selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Vet: WILL SCARLET - returned making an abnormal respiratory noise.
