FINLEY HILL and GREY MISTRESS were slow into stride. Jockey Khathi crop on more than 12 occasions whilst riding the horse BRIGADOON ELY during the running of the race. In deciding what action to take against Jockey Khathi, the Board considered Jockey Khathi's poor recent record in relation to the use of the crop and the number of times that he struck BRIGADOON ELY. Accordingly, a fine of R1500 was imposed. Jockey Khathi was also advised that, should he appear before the Board in the near future regarding a similar contravention, more severe sanctions may be imposed. REYMUNDO over raced in the early stages. BRIGADOON ELY was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis.
