THE STARTER REPORTED: a) DALLAS (S Moodley) was slow into stride. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED : a) At the 1000m, IRONTAIL (A Marcus) was buffeted for a number of strides when awkwardly placed between DALLAS (S Moodley) and FADE TO BLACK (A Mgudlwa). Thereafter, in view of the performance of IRONTAIL (A Marcus), (distance 6.20 lengths, 4/1 betting), the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine. b) QUANT MASTER (W Kennedy) was hanging out from the 400m. c) KINGSTON ROCK (*J Jacobs) switched in to continue its run, at the 250m. d) Jockey S Randolph dropped his crop, in the concluding stages. e) Jockey W Kennedy signed an admission of guilt for a contravention of Rule 58.10.2, read in conjunction with Guideline M, in that he struck the horse QUANT MASTER more than 12 times in the entire race. In deciding what action to take against Jockey W Kennedy the Board considered the number of times (13) Jockey W Kennedy struck the horse QUANT MASTER, the distance over which and manner in which, Jockey W Kennedy used his crop and his record (0) in relation to this Rule. Accordingly, a penalty of R750 was imposed. f) Jockey S Veale signed an admission of guilt for a contravention of Rule 58.10.2, read in conjunction with Guideline M, in that he struck the horse TONIGHTSFIGHTNIGHT more than 12 times in the entire race. In deciding what action to take against Jockey S Veale the Board considered the number of times (18) Jockey S Veale struck the horse TONIGHTSFIGHTNIGHT, the distance over which and manner in which, Jockey S Veale used his crop and his record (1) in relation to this Rule. Accordingly, a penalty of R1000 was imposed. g) Jockey D Dillon signed an admission of guilt for a contravention of Rule 58.10.2, read in conjunction with Guideline M, in that he struck the horse LETABA more than 12 times in the entire race In deciding what action to take against Jockey D Dillon the Board considered the number of times (15) Jockey Dillon struck the horse LETABA, the distance over which and manner in which, Jockey D Dillon used his crop, the fact that he won the race and his record in relation to this Rule. Accordingly, a penalty of R1000 was imposed. h) LETABA (D Dillon), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Assistant Trainer C Austin acting on behalf of Trainer S Humby was advised (ML). JOCKEY / EQUIPMENT CHANGES : a) FADE TO BLACK was ridden by Jockey A Mgudlwa (advised 10.12.2020/10h36). b) AVENIR raced with an alumite bar shoe on the left fore (10.12.2020/02h52). c) KNIGHT WARRIOR was ridden by Apprentice K Strydom (claiming 2.5kg) (advised 10.12.2020/10h36). RACE CARD CHANGES / OTHER : a) None. THE VETERINARY SURGEON REPORTED : a) IRONTAIL : Nothing obvious detected. b) HAMMAM : Returned post-race having cast the right hind shoe. c) KNIGHT WARRIOR : Returned post-race having cast the right hind shoe. d) TONIGHTSFIGHTNIGHT : Returned post-race having cast the left hind shoe.
