WONDERWALL was slow into stride. Into the first turn D' ARRIVEE had to steady momentarily when awkwardly placed between TILBURY FORT and DIVINE ODYSSEY, which shifted in. At approximately the 200m WONDERWALL and SPLENDID GARDEN were carried inwards by ROCK A ROLL DANCER, which was carried in by ZOUAVES, which was hanging in from approximately the 400m. In view of the performance from LEGAL EAGLE, the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this gelding. Trainer Tarry was requested to report back on the condition of LEGAL EAGLE on return to stables. Jockey Byleveld was fined, in that he weighed back in at more than 1kg in excess of the weight at which he weighed out at. Following an investigation into the above incident, it was established that Jockey Byleveld had changed the fittings on D' ARRIVEE after his original fittings were found to be too small for this charge. Jockey Byleveld had then failed to re-weigh out with the Clerk of Scales. This had resulted in Jockey Byleveld weighing back in overweight. In deciding what action to take against Jockey Byleveld, the Board took into consideration that there was no evidence of skulduggery, however, it was still of the view that Jockey Byleveld's actions were negligent and therefore a penalty of a fine was imposed. ALYAASAAT (AUS) was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Vet: LEGAL EAGLE - examined post-race, nothing obvious detected.
