HENRY JAMES was restless in the stalls and thereafter jumped awkwardly. DUCKY FUZZ jumped outwards leaving the stalls. The start of this race was reviewed with regards to HENRY JAMES in the stalls, gate number 6, and it was established that this gelding had jumped awkwardly, making contact with the left side starting gate. As a consequence of this the front gate bounced back marginally. The Board was of the view that any prejudice suffered was as a consequence of this gelding's behavior and deemed HENRY JAMES to be a runner. Jockey van Rensburg reported that thereafter he felt something amiss with HENRY JAMES in running. MAWJOOD was hanging out in the concluding stages. Apprentice Klink reported that MARCHER LORD made an abnormal respiratory noise in running and did not persevere with his ride from the 400m. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this gelding. MISTY LIGHT was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. MARCHER LORD raced equipped with alumite shoes in front, unshod behind. Vet: HENRY JAMES - abnormal respiratory noise. MARCHER LORD - no respiratory noise detected post-race. Scratched: EUREKA EFFECT - transport complications.
