SIMPLY RUSSIAN lost 2 lengths. SACRED IBIS lost 1 length. SMILEY KYLIE and VIRTUOSA were selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. SIMPLY RUSSIAN was hanging in over the final 500 meters, and hung onto the heels of BLANKET OF SNOW and had to be eased, losing position near the 150-meter mark. Thereafter SIMPLY RUSSIAN was baulked for a clear run over the final 50 meters. ROSE DANCER when improving on the outside of VIRTUOSA was carried out as a result of VIRTUOSA shifting outwards near the 150-meter mark resulting in CARMELLA being inconvenienced. Jockey Zackey the rider of VIRTUOSA appeared before the Board with regard to this incident and was advised to react sooner to correct his mounts when they shift ground in races in future. Jockey Moodley the rider of CARMELLA reported this filly not striding out freely in running. In view of the performance of ROMANTIC DUCHESS, the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this filly. Vet: CARMELLA and ROMANTIC DUCHESS - nothing obvious detected. Scratched: ANOTHER SECRET - over-reach left fore.
