LIVE BY NIGHT kicked the back gates. As the start was affected LAND OF THE BRAVE threw its head down, resulting in this gelding losing 2 lengths. A race review was called into the start of this race with regard to LAND OF THE BRAVE in stall gate number 6 and it was established that as the start was affected this gelding threw its head down, jumped awkwardly and as a result lost 2 lengths. The Board, after reviewing the patrol film, was satisfied that LAND OF THE BRAVE had not been impeded and therefore declared it to be a runner. LIVE BY NIGHT over-raced in the early stages. ARAPAHO was hanging in from the 400m. SINGFORAFA commenced to give ground to the field from the 600m, Jockey Zackey did not persevere with his ride from the 200m and reported something amiss with this filly in running. Trainer Spies was requested to report back on the condition of SINGFORAFA on return to stables. Jockey Zackey appeared before the Board and was afforded the opportunity to place on record any factors which, in his opinion, may have contributed to the poor performance of SINGFORAFA. He explained to the Board that this filly had not felt herself, nor had she shown her usual turn of foot when encouraged and had not responded to his urgings. He was further of the opinion that there was something amiss with SINGFORAFA, which he communicated to the Trainer, Stipendiary Board and Veterinary Surgeon. AL JAHBATH was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. ARAPAHO raced equipped with a tongue tie. Vet: ARAPAHO - abnormal respiratory noise. SINGFORAFA - examined post-race, nothing obvious detected. Scratched: HANDSHAKE PROMISE - cast in box.
