RED RASCAL struck the front gate shortly before the start was affected. PARA HANDY was slow losing two lengths. The start was reviewed regarding RED RASCAL in stall gate 6, which struck the front gate shortly before the start was affected, and the patrol films showed that this gelding gained no advantage, and therefore was declared to be a runner. In view of the performance from MAGIC SAILOR, the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine the gelding on its report to the unsaddling enclosure and submit a report. Jockey Behr reported that he felt something amiss with this gelding in running. Jockey Khathi dropped his crop at about the 200m. JEPHTHAH was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Vet: METORITE - returned not striding out. MAGIC SAILOR - examined post-race and no obvious abnormalities were detected. TOP OF THE CLASS and NATURALIST - returned making an abnormal respiratory noise in running. BRAVE TIGER - returned having cast the left fore shoe.
