THE STARTER REPORTED : a) Fair start for all runners. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED : a) Jockey W Kennedy reported that SNIPER SHOT made an abnormal respiratory noise at the pull up. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine. b) Jockey S Veale signed an admission of guilt for a contravention of Rule 58.10.2, read in conjunction with Guideline M, in that he struck the horse DESOLATE ROAD more than 12 times in the entire race. In deciding what action to take against Jockey S Veale the Board considered the number of times (13) Jockey S Veale struck the horse DESOLATE ROAD, the distance over which and manner in which, Jockey S Veale used his crop and his record (2) in relation to this Rule. Accordingly, a penalty of R1000 was imposed. c) BABY SHOOZ (A Marcus), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer P Muscutt advised (ML).
