TOUCH OF FATE lost 2 lengths. THE SANDS was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer Alexander was questioned regarding the improved performance of THE SANDS as compared to this gelding's previous performance at the Vaal Racecourse. Mr Alexander explained that THE SANDS had not traveled well on that occasion and had sweated up pre-race. He further explained that in his opinion THE SANDS benefited from racing in blinkers today over the shorter distance. He attributed these factors to the improved performance shown. His explanation was noted and the future performances of THE SANDS will be monitored. SOLICITOR GENERAL jumped outwards bumping and carrying ATACAMA RAID outwards shortly after the start was affected. AL JAZEERA over-raced in the early stages. Jockey Habib the rider of BLOW ME DOWN reported this gelding took no interest in running. Apprentice Gates the rider of TOUCH OF FATE reported this colt not striding out freely in running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this colt. In view of the performance of JUSTADOREHER the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this filly. TOUCH OF FATE raced fitted with pacifiers. Vet: BLOW ME DOWN and JUSTADOREHER - nothing obvious detected. TOUCH OF FATE - not striding out both fore.
