The start of this race was delayed due to PENNY FROM HEAVEN being examined by the Veterinary Surgeon and compounded by HEIR LINE's tongue tie being displaced, which had to be re-done by the Veterinary Surgeon. Thereafter WOLVES AMONG SHEEP broke through the front gate, dislodged its rider, was captured, brought to hand and subsequently returned to the start, checked by the Veterinary Surgeon and passed fit to race. Subsequent to this BUSH PILOT's bridle broke. This resulted in the starter removing all the horses from their starting gates. The bridle of BUSH PILOT was replaced by the starter and loading re-commenced. WOLVES AMONG SHEEP broke through the pens and was restrained by the lead horse and re-loaded. This gelding's Starting Stalls Certificate has been withdrawn. BUSH PILOT was difficult to load. ROMAN DISCENT was slow away losing two lengths. In view of the Starter's report, with regard to WOLVES AMONG SHEEP, this gelding was suspended for a period of 7 days and until such time as it proves tractable. WOLVES AMONG SHEEP may not be presented for re-passing during this period. Jockey de Melo, the rider of HEIR LINE, reported this gelding striding short during the running. Jockey Marwing, the rider of PENNY FROM HEAVEN, reported this filly pulled up lame after running. THREE TO TANGO was hanging-in in the final 500m. ARTE was hanging-in in the concluding stages. TANDAVA and ARTE were selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. HEIR LINE raced in steels. IN THE MOOD raced with alumites on. LEVEN POINT raced in steels. WOLVES AMONG SHEEP raced with earmuffs on. Vet: HEIR LINE - examined post-race and nothing untoward was found. PENNY FROM HEAVEN - examined post-race and found to be lame left fore. PEGGSON - Epistaxis (first episode); 60 days' suspension. Scratched: MASTER 'N COMMANDER - Card scratching.
