THE STARTER REPORTED: a) LEGITIMATE (K de Melo) and CYBER LAW (K Sakayi) bumped leaving the stalls. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) Approaching the 350m ASHFORD CASTLE (M Winnaar) had to be directed outwards to avoid the heels of DOUBLE THE FUN (R Fourie) which rolled out. b) At the 200m LEGITIMATE (K de Melo) which was hanging out, shifted out and brushed THE SECOND WAVE (*L Ferraris). Thereafter, leaving the 200m, LEGITIMATE (K de Melo) changed stride and shifted in sharply, had to be straightened and proved difficult to assist in the concluding stages. c) Jockey R Fourie, the rider of DOUBLE THE FUN (Betting 4/1 : Distance 8.00) reported that he felt something amiss with this gelding. The veterinary surgeon was requested to examine. d) Jockeys M Winnaar and C Zackey, the riders of ASHFORD CASTLE and JEAN'S MAN respectively, reported that their mounts changed stride continually in the running. The veterinary surgeon was requested to examine. e) THE SECOND WAVE, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis.
