The start of this race was delayed due to the delay in the previous race as well as a hole on the inside of the track at the 1150m having to be refilled. ST JOSEPH'S LILY (ZIM) was slow losing one length. DESERT KITTEN jumped awkwardly leaving the stalls. Apprentice Schwarz reported that MIDNIGHT TOP did not stride out freely in running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this filly. Jockey Hewitson reported that MUSAYTARA made an abnormal respiratory noise in running. TIARA ARAIT failed to muster speed and gave ground to the field from the 400m. A race review was called into the start of this race with regard to DESERT KITTEN in stall gate 10. It had appeared that this filly had gained an advantage as the start was affected when watching the race live. However, after reviewing all the footage of the start including being able to slow down and enlarge the images, it was established that this filly threw her head down and gained forward momentum as the start was affected. The Board was satisfied that all the gates had opened simultaneously, that this was a fair start and therefore took no further action. DESERT KITTEN and ST JOSEPH'S LILY (ZIM) were selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. QUEEN OF THE DANCE raced equipped with ear muffs. LUSCIOUS LOCKS raced with a tongue tie on. Vet: MIDNIGHT TOP - not striding out left front. ST JOSEPH'S LILY (ZIM) - speedy cut left front. MUSAYTARA - abnormal respiratory noise.
