THE STARTER REPORTED: a) JUAN CARLOS was stubborn loading and jumped slow, losing one length. b) HEEMSTEDE was nervous in the stalls and jumped awkwardly. c) OMBUDSMAN was nervous in the stalls and was slow into stride. d) ABOVE THE HORIZON was slow into stride. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) All horses selected for TCO2 were within the required levels and no retests were recorded. (14h46) b) HOLLANDIA BAKKERIJ was hanging in from the 400m. c) JUAN CARLOS was directed inwards to obtain clear running at the 250m. d) Jockey K Strydom appeared before the Board and was advised that the manner in which he used his crop above shoulder height had come under notice on numerous occasions. The Board advised him that if he continued to transgress Rule 58.10.2 (Guideline B), stricter sanctions may be imposed. e) ABOVE THE HORIZON, the second-placed horse, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis.
