THE STARTER REPORTED: a) A fair start. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED (SR) : a) Shortly after the start RED BOMBER, DIRECTOR, IRELAND FOREVER and NOTABLE were tightened and FINE ADMIRAL was squeezed out between TARGARYEN KNIGHT and BLUE STEEL. b) GALLIC VICTOR over-raced in the early stages. c) At the 100m VIXENS WAR, which hung in from the 350m, was allowed to roll in, to the inside of DIRECTOR, to continue its run. d) In view of the performances of NOTABLE (15.70 lengths and 25/1 in the betting) and VIXENS WAR (6.40 lengths and 33/1 in the betting), the Veterinarian was requested to examine. e) Trainer W A Nel was charged with a contravention of Rule 39.7.5, in that he failed to vaccinate HOODIA against Equine Influenza in accordance with the programme of vaccination as published from time to time in the Racing Calendar. Assistant Trainer H Crawford acting on behalf of Trainer W A Nel signed an Admission of Guilt and was fined R1000. f) BLUE STEEL, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis.
