THE STARTER REPORTED:
a) LOOKING GOOD was nervous in the stalls, jumped awkwardly and was slow into stride.
b) WALK RIGHT IN jumped awkwardly with its head up.
c) GIMMETHEGOLD jumped slow, losing one length.
d) GREEN POINT and GREENLIGHT JET were slow into stride.
THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED:
a) All horses selected for TCO2 were within the required levels and no retests were recorded. (12h12)
b) Permission was granted for WALK RIGHT IN to be assisted by a lead pony when proceeding to the start.
c) The tongue tie on NORSE WARRIOR was refitted prior to this gelding leaving the parade ring.
d) Apprentice BA Makhubo (NORSE WARRIOR) rode a satisfactory qualifying ride.
e) WALK RIGHT IN jumped inwards and made slight contact with LOVE FROM AFAR shortly after the start. Thereafter, WALK RIGHT IN over raced in the early and middle stages.
f) LOVE FROM AFAR cast its left front shoe at the 1200m.
g) At the 700m GREENLIGHT JET brushed the inside running rail.
h) At the 300m, KALEESH CYBORG had to steady momentarily when awkwardly placed between the inside running rail and GREENLIGHT JET, which shifted inwards. Thereafter, KALEESH CYBORG was directed outwards to obtain clear running.
Apprentice B Soodoo (KALEESH CYBORG) appeared before the Board and was advised not to put himself and his mount in an awkward position unnecessarily in the race.
Jockey JR Syster (GREENLIGHT JET) appeared before the Board and was advised to straighten his mounts timeously to avoid shifting ground in similar circumstances.
i) NORSE WARRIOR was hanging in from the 300m.
j) LOOKING GOOD shifted out away from the crop from the 300m and was corrected at the 100m.
k) RIP WHEELER, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer JP Nel was advised. (LM)
l) LOVE FROM AFAR, the second-placed horse, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer K Mitchley was advised. (LM)
