THE STARTER REPORTED: a) EMPRESS OF PEACE jumped awkwardly leaving the stalls. b) RABBA DABBA DOO and SNAP YOUR FINGERS were slow into stride. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) All horses selected for TCO2 were within the required levels, and no retests were recorded. b) SNAP YOUR FINGERS over-raced in the early and middle stages. c) Shortly before the finish line, SECRET LIFE was steadied when awkwardly placed between EMPRESS OF PEACE and BLAZING BREEZE, which shifted out away from the crop. As a consequence of this, Apprentice J Botes was unable to fully assist SECRET LIFE out to the end of the race. d) Jockey C Zackey reported that he felt something amiss with SNAP YOUR FINGERS in running. The Veterinarian was requested to examine. e) BABY RED, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer H van der Westhuizen was advised (MduP). When questioned regarding the improved performance of BABY RED, Trainer H van der Westhuizen could offer the Board no suitable explanation. His attention was drawn to the Rules pertaining to In and Out running. JOCKEY CHANGES: None. THE VETERINARIAN REPORTED: a) SNAP YOUR FINGERS fatigued. b) BABY RED mild post-race distress. c) BLAZING BREEZE coughing post-race.
