THE STARTER REPORTED: a) U S RANGER was stubborn loading and nervous in the stalls. b) FIRST OFFICER was stubborn loading, nervous in the stalls and rushed the front gates. c) DAFFODIL DELIGHT was nervous in the stalls and rushed the front gates. d) GLOBAL THRILLER was nervous in the stalls and jumped slow, losing one length. e) FATEFUL LOVE jumped slow, losing one length. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) U S RANGER recorded a TCO2 concentration of more than 36 mmol/L. Trainer AC Greeff was advised that a second blood specimen would be collected. This specimen was of an acceptable TCO2 level. (15h29) b) MASTER MTOTO shifted sharply inwards away from the crop at the 150m. Thereafter, Jockey C Zackey reported that this gelding did not stride out freely in running. The Veterinarian was requested to examine. Trainer DG Smith was advised to report back should he find anything amiss with this gelding on his return to the stables. c) U S RANGER, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis.
