En-route to the start, Jockey A Mgudlwa (A M C ROY ON FIRE) indicated to the Course Paramedics that he felt unwell and required Medical attention. A replacement rider was sought, weighed out and dispatched to the start. This caused the delay to the start of this Race.
THE STARTER REPORTED:
a) YUKINKO was stubborn to load.
THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED (SR) :
a) All horses selected for TCO2 were within the required levels and no retests were recorded.
b) CAMPO FORMIO, OCTOBERE RUSH, MUSTANG HIGHWAY and DANNY ATLAS raced green.
c) At the 250m, STEALTH MODE was steadied and directed to the outside of YUKINKO to continue its run.
d) Jockey K de Melo reported that YUKINKO did not stride out freely in the running. The Veterinarian was requested to examine.
e) In view of the performances of RACHEL'S BOY (12.10 lengths, 33/1 in the betting) and HOLLYWOOD VISION (9.30 lengths, 200/1 in the betting) the Veterinarian was requested to examine.
f) Apprentice Q Ngcobo (PRINCE OF RABADA) rode a satisfactory qualifying ride.
g) Trainer N Kotzen was charged with a contravention of Rule 57.1.1 in that he failed to ensure that the passports for the horses JYS MY SWEETHEART (Race 1) and NOCTAMBULIST (Race 2) were made available to a Stipendiary Steward not later than 60 minutes before the official starting time of the Race in which it is due to run. Accordingly, a penalty of a fine of R1000 was imposed.
h) BENNY AND PAUL, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer P B Muscutt was advised (DZ).
JOCKEY / EQUIPMENT CHANGES :
a) MUSTANG HIGHWAY was ridden by Jockey M V'Rensburg.
b) DANNY ATLAS was ridden by Jockey C Little (advised 27.06.26/10h27).
c) STEALTH MODE was ridden by Apprentice A Mosaheb (claiming 4kg) (advised 26.06.26/15h38).
d) PRINCE OF RABADA was ridden by Apprentice Q Ngcobo (claiming 4kg) (advised 28.06.26/8h02).
e) A M C ROY ON FIRE was ridden by Jockey J Jacobs.
THE MEDICAL OFFICER REPORTED :
a) Jockey A Mgudlwa was examined and was found to be suffering with a headache and dizziness. Unfit to continue riding pending a secondary Medical evaluation. Rule 25.12 applied.
THE VETERINARIAN REPORTED :
a) YUKINKO : Not striding out right front.
b) RACHEL'S BOY : Nothing obvious detected.
c) HOLLYWOOD VISION : Not striding out right front.
SCRATCHINGS :
a) OLD HARRY ROCKS : Coughing (Trainer - 26.06.26/15h35). Rule 53.5 applies.
b) PRE RAPHAELITE : Acute skin disease (Trainer - 28.06.26/7h30). Rule 53.5 applies.
