THE STARTER REPORTED: a) PARTY PUNCH jumped inwards leaving the stalls. b) KISS OF FIRE, NUCLEAR FORCE, FULL GO and HOPSCOTCH were slow into stride. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) All horses selected for TCO2 were within the required levels, and no retests were recorded. b) Leaving the 200m, INSTANT ATTRACTION, which had come to the end of its run, was steadied momentarily when awkwardly placed on the heels of HOPSCOTCH, which rolled in. c) ITSNOWORNEVER hung out from the 400m. In view of this report, the Veterinarian was requested to examine. d) Jockey C Maujean reported that INSTANT ATTRACTION did not stride out freely in running. The Veterinarian was requested to examine. e) Jockey M K Katjedi reported that he felt something amiss with FUSHIMI INARI in running. The Veterinarian was requested to examine. f) BOLD ACTION, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer F Bronkhorst was advised (MduP). When questioned regarding the improved performance of BOLD ACTION, Trainer F Bronkhorst could offer the Board no suitable explanation. His attention was drawn to the Rules pertaining to In and Out running. JOCKEY CHANGES: None. THE VETERINARIAN REPORTED: a) ITSNOWORNEVER not striding out left hind. b) INSTANT ATTRACTION fatigued. c) FUSHIMI INARI lame right front. Veterinary report required prior to racing. Rule 49.7 applies. FUSHIMI INARI is required to perform a gallop to the satisfaction of the NHA veterinary department prior to his next engagement. Trainer C I Jonker advised (MB). d) KISS OF FIRE choked up; moderate post-race distress. THERE WERE NO SCRATCHINGS. DISQUALIFIED / DECLARED NON-RUNNER: None.
