THE STARTER REPORTED: a) DEAD POETS SOCIETY jumped inwards. b) SABRAGE and RUN JOHNNY RUN were slow into stride. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) All horses selected for TCO2 were within the required levels and no retests were recorded. (12h50) b) Permission was granted for SABRAGE and RARE EARTH to be assisted by a lead pony when proceeding to the start. c) Shortly after the start, RUN JOHNNY RUN had to be steadied when awkwardly placed between BUGLE and SECRET ERUPTION, which was bumped inwards by DEAD POETS SOCIETY, which jumped inwards. Thereafter, RUN JOHNNY RUN over raced in the early and middle stages. d) SABRAGE was hanging out in the straight. e) Jockey C Zackey reported that RARE EARTH made an abnormal respiratory noise in running. The Veterinarian was requested to examine this filly. f) SABRAGE, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer WGC Miller was advised. (LM) g) SECRET ERUPTION, the second-placed horse, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Assistant Trainer M Sobethwa, acting on behalf of Trainer SB Kotzen, was advised.
