THE STARTER REPORTED: a) HELIOTROPE jumped with its head up and lost one length. b) GOLDEN CROC jumped slow, losing one length. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) All horses selected for TCO2 were within the required levels and no retests were recorded. (14h03) b) At approximately the 800m, SUGAR BABY LOVE brushed the inside running rail when tightened for galloping room on the inside of HELIOTROPE, which over raced in the early and middle stages. In this incident, BACK FOR MORE, which was following, had to be steadied for a number of strides. c) Apprentice W Fourie reported that THREE CHEERS made an abnormal respiratory noise at the finish. The Veterinarian was requested to examine this filly. d) Jockey X Ndlovu reported that BACK FOR MORE changed stride continually in running. The Veterinarian was requested to examine this mare. e) HELIOTROPE, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Assistant Trainer FJ Jacobs, acting on behalf of Trainer DG Smith, was advised. (LM) THE VETERINARIAN REPORTED: a) THREE CHEERS - examined post-race. Fatigued. b) BACK FOR MORE - examined post-race.
