THE STARTER REPORTED: a) WHATEVER NEXT, BEL CANTO DREAM and POWER OF TIGER were slow into stride. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) All horses selected for TCO2 were within the required levels and no retests were recorded. (15h14) b) At approximately the 900m, SUSURRANDO, which over raced in the early stages, had to be steadied when awkwardly placed on the inside of KING RAHUL, which was carried in by EL CAPITAN. Jockey M van Rensburg (EL CAPITAN) appeared before the Board and was advised to exercise more care in similar circumstances. c) Jockey C Habib did not persevere with his riding of TOKYO PRINCESS from the 300m. Thereafter, Jockey Habib reported that he felt something amiss with this mare. The Veterinarian was requested to examine. Trainer L Gila was advised to report back should he find anything amiss with this mare on her return to the stables. d) Apprentice BA Makhubo (KING RAHUL) accidentally dropped his crop at the 200m. e) CAPTAIN CLEVER was hanging in from the 200m. f) Trainer JP Nel was charged with a contravention of Rule 11.2.8 in that he presented EUGENIUS incorrectly equipped in the parade ring. Trainer DA McKenzie, acting on behalf of Trainer JP Nel, signed an Admission of Guilt and Trainer JP Nel was fined R250.00. g) BEL CANTO DREAM, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer JVA Strydom was advised. (LM) THE VETERINARIAN REPORTED: a) TOKYO PRINCESS - examined post-race. Nothing obvious detected. b) POWER OF TIGER - coughing. THERE WERE NO SCRATCHINGS.
