En route to the start TENANGO cast the left front shoe which was replaced by the course Farrier at the start. This gelding was examined by the Veterinarian and passed fit to race. This led to a delay to the start of this race. THE STARTER REPORTED: a) TENANGO and GREAT PLAINS lost 1 length. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED (DA) : a) All horses selected for TCO2 were within the required levels and no retests were recorded. b) KAALVOET over-raced in the early and middle stages. c) At the 150m DAVE THE KING which hung in from the 300m, was bumped by OUTLAW KING which began to shift out away from the crop. d) Leaving the 100m KAALVOET was directed inwards away from PRINCESS OF GAUL, which was carried in by TENANGO, which was directed to the inside of SPEEDMAN to continue its run. e) Jockey G Lerena (ONE EYE ON VEGAS) did not persevere with his riding on this colt in the concluding stages. Thereafter he reported that ONE EYE ON VEGAS did not stride out freely in the running. The Veterinarian was requested to examine. f) In view of the performance of DAVE THE KING (9.65 lengths and 50/1 in the betting), the Veterinarian was requested to examine. g) Jockey G van Niekerk was charged with a contravention of Rule 58.10.2, (Appendix E; Guideline M), in that as the rider of JET FORCE, he misused his crop by striking this gelding more than ten times (13) in the entire race. Jockey van Niekerk signed an Admission of Guilt and was fined R10 000. h) JET FORCE, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer D A McLachlan was advised (DZ). i) BUFFALO STORM CODY, placed second, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer A P Peter was advised (SP). JOCKEY / EQUIPMENT CHANGES : a) Jockey J P v'd Merwe was the rider of FUTURE VARIETY (advised 04.07.2026/07h10). THE VETERINARIAN REPORTED : a) DAVE THE KING : Nothing obvious detected. b) ONE EYE ON VEGAS : Not striding out right hind. SCRATCHINGS : a) JERUSALEMA RAIN : Bruised right front (Trainer - 02.07.2026/13h47).
