THE STARTER REPORTED: a) ROYAL CLINTON and PROTECTOR OF PEACE bumped leaving the stalls. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) All horses selected for TCO2 were within the required levels and no retests were recorded. (14h16) b) The bit on MONTESSORI, which was hanging out on the turn, pulled through this gelding's mouth, placing Jockey R Fourie at a disadvantage. Thereafter, Jockey R Fourie reported that MONTESSORI choked up in running. The Veterinarian was requested to examine this gelding. The Veterinarian confirmed that the bit pulled through MONTESSORI's mouth. c) At the 1000m, THE BIG BANG was steadied and directed inwards away from heels of PURE AS SNOW, which raced awkwardly on the turn and into the straight. d) At the 300m, MY SUNSHINE was directed outwards and into clear running. e) PROTECTOR OF PEACE, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis.
