During the loading process BLIND SPEED was restless in the stalls, released, examined by the Veterinarian and passed fit to race. Thereafter this filly had to be resaddled prior to reloading. This led to a delay to the start of this race. THE STARTER REPORTED: a) BLIND SPEED was restless in the stalls. b) NIGHT TIGER was stubborn to load. c) PRINCESS GOLDIE lost 1 length and thereafter was slow into stride. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED (DM) : a) All horses selected for TCO2 were within the required levels and no retests were recorded. b) Approaching the 500m BLIND SPEED was steadied momentarily when close to the heels of MUSIC IS LIFE which rolled in and was immediately straightened. c) Jockey M Michel (NIGHT TIGER) and Apprentice D Pillay (PREACHER MAN) reported that they felt something amiss with their respective mounts in the running. d) In view of the performance of PRINCESS GOLDIE (9.65 lengths and 16/1 in the betting), the Veterinarian was requested to examine. e) Apprentice A Boolkah was charged with a contravention of Rule 58.10.2., Appendix E, (Guideline 3) in that he mis-used his crop by striking ONE IRISH ROVER forward of the saddle in the concluding stages. Apprentice A Boolkah signed an Admission of Guilt and was fined R1000. f) Apprentice P Porffy (MUSIC IS LIFE) rode a satisfactory qualifying ride. g) YANNAKIS, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer G I Rich was advised (MM). JOCKEY / EQUIPMENT CHANGES : a) Nil. THE VETERINARIAN REPORTED : a) PREACHER MAN : Nothing obvious detected. b) PRINCESS GOLDIE : Nothing obvious detected. c) NIGHT TIGER : Not striding out left hind. SCRATCHINGS : a) Nil. DISQUALIFIED / DECLARED NON-RUNNER: a) None.
