THE STARTER REPORTED: a) The tongue tie on ENGELANDPARK was refitted at the start. b) SCENTED PATH was stubborn loading, nervous in the stalls and jumped slow, losing one length. c) MAKAJIMA was nervous in the stalls and jumped awkwardly outwards. d) LOOKING GOOD, J LORDI and SHOOTING ARROW jumped slow, losing one length. e) DOUBLE DISTILLED jumped slow, losing two to three lengths. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) All horses selected for TCO2 were within the required levels and no retests were recorded. (11h52) b) DOUBLE DISTILLED, which jumped slow, failed to muster speed and raced detached from the field throughout. The Veterinarian was requested to examine this gelding. Trainer JVA Strydom was advised to report back should he find anything amiss with this gelding on his return to the stables. c) Shortly after the start, ENGELANDPARK made slight contact with MAGNUS THE GOOD, which shifted inwards. d) TURBULENT was hanging in badly in the straight and proved difficult to assist. The Veterinarian was requested to examine this gelding. e) MAGNUS THE GOOD was hanging in from the 400m and was corrected at the 150m. f) MAKAJIMA was hanging in from the 300m and was corrected at the 100m. g) The saddle on J LORDI, which was hanging in from the 250m, slipped back in running. This was confirmed by the Veterinarian. h) LOOKING GOOD was hanging in from the 200m and was corrected shortly before the finish. i) Jockey C Little did not persevere with his riding of ENGELANDPARK from the 100m and thereafter reported that he felt something amiss with this filly. The Veterinarian was requested to examine. j) Jockey C Habib reported that SCENTED PATH made an abnormal respiratory noise in running. The Veterinarian was requested to examine this gelding. k) In view of the report from the Starter regarding DOUBLE DISTILLED, Trainer JVA Strydom was advised to have this gelding re-schooled prior to his next engagement in terms of Rule 61.6.10. l) MRS SHACKLETON, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis.
