THE STARTER REPORTED: a) HEEMSTEDE was nervous in the stalls and jumped awkwardly inwards. b) KLEINZEE was slow into stride. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) All horses selected for TCO2 were within the required levels and no retests were recorded. (13h38) b) Permission was granted for TENJIKU to be assisted by a lead pony when proceeding to the start. c) PORFIRIO over raced in the early and middle stages. d) Between the 800m and the 600m KLEINZEE was baulked for galloping room and had to be steadied. Thereafter, KLEINZEE was hanging out from the 350m and was corrected at the 100m. e) Jockey M Yeni reported that he felt something amiss with PORFIRIO. The Veterinarian was requested to examine this gelding. f) KLEINZEE, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer AC Greeff was advised.
