THE STARTER REPORTED: a) THE GLIDING FISH was stubborn to load. b) HOODIA lost 2 lengths. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED (JN) : a) All horses selected for TCO2 were within the required levels and no retests were recorded. b) HOODIA over raced in the early and middle stages. c) Approaching the 700m BANGLADESH was encouraged forward around the field and thereafter raced wide on the latter part of the turn and into the straight. d) CATCH A PENNY was baulked for clear running between the 350m and the 150m. e) In the concluding stages TURBO TWENTY, which rolled out, was inconvenienced when close to the heels of BLUE STEEL, which rolled in. f) Jockey C Zackey was charged with a contravention of Rule 58.10.2, (Appendix E; Guideline M), in that as the rider of BANGLADESH, he misused his crop by striking this gelding more than ten times (13) during the race. Jockey Zackey signed an Admission of Guilt and was fined R3 600. g) BANGLADESH, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer N Kotzen was advised (SP). JOCKEY / EQUIPMENT CHANGES : a) Nil. THE VETERINARIAN REPORTED : a) UNITED FRONT : Abnormal respiratory noise. b) BLUE STEEL : Returned post-race having cast the right hind shoe.
