THE STARTER REPORTED: a) POLICY OF TRUTH refused to load and was withdrawn, causing a delay. b) STAR IN MOTION and ALADO'S PRIDE jumped slow, losing two lengths. c) MONT TREMBLANT and MATT'S WARRIOR were slow into stride. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) All horses selected for TCO2 were within the required levels and no retests were recorded. (15h21) b) ARABIAN RED stumbled shortly after the start. c) VILA VICOSA and MATT'S WARRIOR made slight contact shortly after the start. d) MONT TREMBLANT over raced in the early and middle stages. e) Jockey C Maujean did not persevere with his riding of KING RAHUL from the 100m and thereafter reported that this gelding did not stride out freely in running. The Veterinarian was requested to examine. f) Apprentice W Fourie reported that MONT TREMBLANT choked up in running. The Veterinarian was requested to examine this gelding. g) In view of the performance of ARABIAN RED (Betting 17/2; Distance 7.35 lengths), the Veterinarian was requested to examine this mare. h) Jockey K Strydom (ALADO'S PRIDE) appeared before the Board and was questioned with regard to his use of the crop in contravention of Rule 58.10.2 (B). He was advised that he had contravened the Rule on a number of occasions without improvement and as a consequence, stricter sanctions would be imposed. Jockey K Strydom advised the Board that he would use his crop in the backhand position in future engagements. The Stewards noted his explanation and advised that his crop use would be monitored. i) In view of the report from the Starter regarding POLICY OF TRUTH, this gelding's starting stall certificate has been withdrawn and he is suspended for 7 days in terms of Rule 61.6.10 and until such time as he proves to be tractable to load on terms with a companion. (Suspension dates: 18/07/2026 to 24/07/2026, both dates inclusive). POLICY OF TRUTH may not be presented for re-passing during this period. Trainer TJ Laing was advised. j) VILA VICOSA, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer K Mitchley was advised.
